Hudson Park and Boulevard is the centerpiece of a new neighborhood for midtown Manhattan’s far west side. The design provides the park with daily-use city/park elements that are also seen in some of New York City’s most successful urban spaces, including: seating, tall trees, open lawns, planted borders, play space, public art, and fountains, making the park a comfortable, welcoming, and heterogeneous urban destination.
The park has curvilinear arrangement of paths, benches, and planted areas that makes for a highly active circulation network that meanders through the space, increasing the sense that the park is a refuge from the city’s strictly rational ordering of sidewalks, streets, and architecture.

The project's images makes the space alive and the graphics demonstrate the goals of the project. The firm represented a very realistic project. The simplicity and the way they bring ideas together makes a successful project.

Sections

Something I was really inspired by is the fact that sections, diagrams, and other images used for the project were used for different purposes. For example, in the sections above we can see how they describe the spaces but also the images become diagrammatic and explains other functionalities of the spaces.


WHAT DID I LEARNED?


Some of the most obvious strategies used for the images are the use of:

-Transparency to makes the image more realistic and give importance


-Scale of figures is important in order to provide the viewer with a better sense of space


-Images can serve different purposes (a section can become a diagram)


-Good labels can make the difference between a good graphic and a good informative graphic


-In order to produce a good image/graphic different techniques must be use
